Habakkuk: The Dip and the Spirit Graphic

January 5th, 2009
Life in the Dip vs. Life in the Spirit

Yesterday we concluded our Habakkuk Teaching series. Someone was interested in this graphic, so here it is. Enjoy.

It is pretty simple. We can choose to live our lives in the dips, emotionally rising and falling with every crisis-Believing the lies our thoughts and emotions tell us when bad things happen. Or, we can live in the stability the spirit- Believing the truth about who you are in Christ.

I hope you enjoyed the series. If you can identify with Habakkuk’s complaining to God, then feel free to comment and tell us about it. Or maybe, Like Habakkuk, you’re in “the dip”  right now and have heard from God in a unique way that has given you the strength to carry on. Comment here if you like. You could be a “herald” to someone else going through similar circumstances.

Special Thanksgiving Service Tomorrow

November 22nd, 2008

I am excited about celebrating all the great things that God has done for us tomorrow. In the midst of an overwhelming sense of neediness sweeping over the families in our country, now is a ripe time to celebrate the things God has blessed us with that can’t be taken away or decrease in value with the fluctuation of the stock market.

With the help of your short video testimonies, I put together a video that is your expression of thanks to God for all the little things that we seem to ignore when financial crises arise. We’ll share this together tomorrow during the service.

The teaching topic tomorrow will be, “Giving Thanks When There’s Not Enough”

Why not take a minute to jot down a list of things you are thankful for. Better yet, comment them here.

Here is mine (in process)

  • God’s love and grace
  • My beautiful wife who finishes my sentences and speaks from God to me.
  • Seth Jr. and how he tirelessly looks up to me as his hero.
  • Kyle who soaks up everything I say and repeats it (even the bad)
  • Samantha how her mere existence brings a smile to my face. I am thankful for how she is calmed by my cheek pressed against hers.
  • Mine and my wife’s family who live close, and offer free babysitting round the clock. How they are all so helpful and loving.
  • My jobs (all of them). Forgive me for complaining when I’m too busy with multiple employment. God, you have blessed me with just enough.
  • My vocation as a pastor… an opportunity to live out my passion while inviting others to join.

Welcome!
